Smaller protest, huge police presence in downtown Atlanta

Several dozen people have turned out to continue protesting the Ferguson grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of Michael Brown.

Tonight’s marchers, shouting “Justice for Mike Brown!” are joined by a huge police presence.

“We’re going to do a little marching tonight,” said protestor Elle Lucier. “We’re going to continue to encourage righteous rage.”

Lucier also encouraged people to skip the traditional post-Thanksgiving shopping sprees: “No Black Friday until black lives matter.”

The group is marching down the sidewalks in Atlanta but traffic is moving fine in the area at the moment, unlike Tuesday when protestors stopped traffic on the 75/85 Connector for a time. There’s very little traffic moving downtown at the moment, given the hour and tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Some images from the scene so far. Please return for updates.
