Winter storm: Alpharetta urges extreme caution on roadways

Authorities in Alpharetta are warning residents to exercise extreme caution on area roadways Tuesday morning due to hazardous black ice.

Additionally, some trees may still be affected by ice buildup; creating serious potential for additional falling limbs or trees, said police spokesman George Gordon.

City crews worked throughout the evening removing fallen trees and large branches from Alpharetta’s roadways and resetting traffic signals impacted by scattered power outages, Gordon said . “Crews began treating roadways at 3:00 this morning, and at this time there are no road closures in Alpharetta,” he added.
