Winter storm: Cherokee Marshal issues warning to businesses

Cherokee County Marshal’s Office Maj. Jamie S. Gianfala released the following statement:

A state of emergency has been declared in Cherokee County by Commission Chairman Buzz Ahrens due to the ice storm. During a state of emergency and the recovery period it is illegal for any person, firm, or corporation doing business in Cherokee County to overcharge for any goods, materials, or services (to include housing). Cherokee County Chief Marshal Ron Hunton warns businesses that such business practices will not be tolerated in the county during this time. Residents are encouraged to Contact the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office at 678.493.4280 if they feel they have been victimized by any illegal business practice.
