The Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued this release Tuesday morning:
Multiple power outages in our area are affecting some traffic lights. Please treat intersections with no working lights as 4-way stops. There are also reports of fallen trees/limbs on the roadways that crews are working to clear. GDOT has been treating state roads in our county overnight. Though none has been reported, there is a chance of black ice on roadways and surface streets, especially bridges and overpasses. If driving this morning is not necessary, we encourage you to stay home until the temperature rises later in the morning. If you must be on the roads, please use extreme caution. Watch out for police, fire, public works, and utility company personnel who are working on resolving these issues. Remember, it is Georgia law that when possible you move over when there are workers along a roadway. If you cannot move over, slow down and pass with care.
