The wintry weather is still making travel difficult in Gainesville on Tuesday afternoon.
Twenty of the city’s major intersections remain without power and several streets — including Dixon, Bradford and Piedmont — are impassible because of trees on power lines, authorities said.
Gainesville is using all the generators it has access to, but the conditions have taken a toll, authorities said.
“Power has been restored to a number of traffic signals, but we still have almost two dozen traffic lights without power,” Public Works Director David Dockery said in a news release. “We are working with the power companies as fast as we can.”
Residents are being urged to use caution, limit their travel, and treat powerless intersections like four-way stops.
