At 3 p.m., the National Weather Service reported snow falling in Kennesaw, Marietta, Chamblee, Lawrenceville and Cartersville. Temperatures ranged from 32 in Cartersville and 34 in Marietta and Kennesaw to 35 in Chamblee and 37 in Lawrenceville.

Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency for disaster preparedness starting at 2 p.m. Forecasters warn that the system could bring accumulations from around 2 inches in metro Atlanta to upwards of 6 inches in the mountain counties. Read more of our weather coverage and updates here.
