Temperatures continued to drop early Wednesday ahead of the approaching winter storm. Readings at 6 a.m. ranged from 27 in Alpharetta and Cartersville and 28 in Dunwoody and Dallas to 31 in Chamblee and 32 in Peachtree City and at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In the mountains, it was 21 in Blue Ridge and 23 in Blairsville.
The leading edge of the snow was through moving through Mississippi and approaching Alabama just before 7 a.m.
Metro Atlantans were bracing Wednesday morning for an afternoon winter storm that forecasters said could deliver dump several inches of snow across parts of the area. A winter storm warning goes into effect at 10 a.m. for 50 Georgia counties. Full story.
