Eight of the nine women found guilty in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating trial were transferred to a jail annex in Alpharetta, according to one of the attorneys. The men are at the main Fulton County jail on Rice Street.

One of the guilty women, Shani Robinson, is near the end of her pregnancy and was not in court yesterday when the verdict was read.

Their booking began just before 5 p.m. Wednesday and took one to two hours.

Typically, defendants are searched before they are transported to jail and a second time at the jail. Thumbprints are taken to verify their identity. They are photographed and booking begins.

Typically inmates can make phone calls and see their attorneys at any time but they cannot have non-legal visitors for two weeks, starting Sunday.

Officials would not speak specifically about these inmates.
