The sentencing hearing for the 10 convicted defendants in the Atlanta Public Schools test-cheating trial is set to resume at 10 a.m. today.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter has given the former educators a harrowing choice: Admit their crimes and accept a last-minute plea deal, or face sentencing. Baxter has promised time behind bars.
The 10 former educators were found guilty earlier this month of racketeering and other charges. Prosecutors said they conspired to change student answers on the state’s Criterion-Referenced Competency Test.
