Stone Mountain Park police are preparing for a day-long Confederate flag rally.

Officials were setting up steam trays for food in the park’s Public Safety office around 8:30 a.m. in preparation for the event, which is expected to last from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to the rally’s Facebook page.

Only a few Confederate flag enthusiasts were at the Yellow Daisy parking lot, the designated location for the rally, by around 8:30 a.m., although more are expected later.

John Bankhead, a spokesman for the Stone Mountain Park Police Department, said there will be heightened security presence at the event.

“We’re treating it like the Fourth of July,” he said.
