He dressed the part and employees of two Target stores didn’t question him, according to police. He then allegedly helped himself to $50,000 worth of cellphones from the stores.

By the time the real store employees realized what had happened, the man and the phones were long gone, police told Channel 2 Action News. Investigators hope surveillance camera images help identify the man, accused of the thefts at a Roswell Road store and in Atlantic Station.

“He walks into the customer service area where he identifies himself as Target mobile,” Sandy Springs Detective Sal Ortega said. “Then he checks in, gets the key, he goes to the back of the store where they have the lockers, he gets the phones out, he puts them into the duffle bag, puts the sweater on and walks out.”

The man, who has not yet been identified, left both stores in a white car, according to police. Investigators believe the man is a current or former Target employee and could have an accomplice.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
