For a few hours Thursday, Atlanta Uber rides will come with an added bonus: a kitten, ready to be adopted, thanks to a promotion in partnership with the Atlanta Humane Society.

The #UberKITTENS promotion can be accessed via the app, runs 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and requires that participants have a $30 (“snuggle fee”) and an enclosed space. And, of course, permission from your workplace.

The kittens will come play for 15 minutes. There will be 12 of them on the roads, all available for adoption, according to society spokeswoman Meredith Millwood

A January partnership between Uber and the Atlanta Humane Society — this one with puppies instead of kittens — “exceeded our wildest expectations,” Millwood said.

Atlanta “actually had the most amount of puppy visits in all the cities,” Millwood said. “People just went nuts here.”

All 12 puppies involved were adopted within 24 hours, she said.

“There were people waiting for us when we got back here (that day), waiting to adopt the animals they had met,” she said.

Following the society’s success with the January promotion, the first time the society has really done anything like this, Millwood said it has been pursuing more off-site adoption events: “Sometimes you’ve just got to bring the animals to the people.”
