DEVELOPING: Police search for multiple gunmen after NW Atlanta shooting

Police are searching for multiple gunmen following a shooting Wednesday afternoon in northwest Atlanta.

Officers arrived shortly after 1 p.m. and found a person shot in the leg on Center Street and multiple others still shooting, Atlanta Deputy Chief Jeff Glazier said.

“There was a little bit of chaos on the scene when police arrived,” Glazier said.

A tornado was spotted about 4 p.m. near Albany and a watch is in effect for Cobb, Fulton and other counties until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Albany Deputy Fire Chief Sebon Burns said a tornado touched down around 3 p.m. No fatalities had been reported by 4:30 p.m., but lots of people were injured.
He said they are rescuing people from homes.

Joyrider arrested after probation officer sees news

A juvenile was arrested Tuesday for stealing and joyriding in a Grady transport van Jan. 23, police said.

Probation officer W. Crawford on Tuesday told Atlanta police he saw his 17-year-old probationer on Channel 2 Action News, after the station aired video surveillance footage of two young men in a stolen van.

2nd arrest in death of man who jumped from balcony to flee intruders

A second man has been arrested in an Atlanta home invasion that ended with the resident jumping from his balcony and dying, police said Thursday.

Mark Spencer, 20, was arrested Feb. 2 and charged with murder in the December 2015 death of Jose Greer, police said. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Greer, 51, called 911 to report that men were kicking in the door at his Oak Street home.
