Major accident on I-285 in Clayton County cleared up

An I-285 traffic accident that was causing major delays in Clayton County has been cleared up, according to Clayton County police.

Earlier Wednesday, most westbound lanes of I-285 were closed due to a major accident involving a tractor-trailer and a box truck.

Clayton County government offices will later than normal this morning. Employees should report to work at 10 a.m.

The winter storm that dumped more than a half-foot of snow across parts of north Georgia Wednesday and overnight has moved out of the state. Clayton State University will close at noon today due to the weather forecast of potentially hazardous driving conditions beginning this afternoon in metro Atlanta. The university plans to resume a normal schedule on Thursday but will be monitoring the weather throughout the day and evening to see if changes need to be made to Thursday’s workday and class schedules.

The highly-anticipated Clayton County State of the County address scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled for March 26 due to the pending inclement weather.
Clayton Chairman Jeff Turner will discuss the county’s return to public transit, 2015 SPLOST projects, economic development and other highlights and challenges next month at Clayton State University’s Student Activity Center. The event runs from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
